Neville Brody's brand — a case study space [left brain--a list format] [right brain--just pictures]

project: Neville Brody and Research Studios London created a new brand for Macomedia. As the in-house designer I worked with Neville on the first product in the series, Director, and turned his designs into finished pieces. I also completed FreeHand and Fireworks.

project: Marketing needed a violator across the front of the new package to differentiate the FreeHand Suite from the standalone product.

objective: Find an attractive, inexpensive solution which didn’t destroy the impact of the new brand. Put additional info on side panel.

solution: I used a folded, stiff vellum wrap. It shrink-wrapped in easily and fell away after opening. The argument was that designers love vellum and this product was primarily for designers.

results: This solution satisfied Neville Brody, the FreeHand team and our Operations people, and was used for all of the other suite products world-wide in this series.
